70 Days of Deals: Partner in the spotlight Janssen Group

Floréac is celebrating its 70th birthday. In order to honour this moment we gathered some of our long-standing partners to reflect on the joint development of our cooperation, across generations. The family-run horticultural business Janßen Group is now in its third generation. Raphael, Marek and Lavinia Janßen, together with their parents Gabi and Hubert Janßen and their 70-strong team, produce various potted and young plants on around 30 hectares of open land, 5 hectares of greenhouses and 7,000m² of logistics space. The company specialises in the heather plant Calluna vulgaris under the Beauty Ladies® brand, Lavandula angustifolia, Erica carnea under the Beauty Seasons® brand, cushion perennials and, since 2024, Campanula.

In order to meet the increasing demands of its customers and employees in the future, the Janßen horticultural company implemented the generation project from 2023 to 2024, which included the construction of new, modern greenhouses and social rooms as well as a large dispatch hall and photovoltaic systems.

Floréac and the Janßen Group have been working closely together as equals for several decades and have continued to develop together.

What can you tell us about the pioneering days at the beginning of the co-operation with Floréac?

Hubert Janßen (Managing Director, 2nd generation) : The collaboration began in 1978, when Marc Floré was still doing the purchasing himself. At that time, our first generation (Matthias and Margarethe Janßen) produced Acacia armata, Erica ventricosa and Erica gracilis.

How many generations does this go back in the history of your company?

Raphael Janßen (Managing Director, 3rd generation): Three generations – we have been working successfully and in partnership for over 40 years now.

Is there an anecdote you can tell about our collaboration?

Raphael Janßen (Managing Director): Puuuh… The great trip to Floréac 6 years ago and the visit to the very beautiful historic centre of Ghent. With its exceptional beers.

Floréac’s trusted employees: Christophe, who always comes at lunchtime in the autumn season to drink his espresso, and Pieter, the picky tea drinker – Els and Conny, who have been our most trusted contacts from the very beginning.

Sonia Kehren (commercial employee): A delicious piece of cake in the office at the beginning of August is a great way to ring in the autumn season 😋

How has the business relationship developed over the years?

Sonia Kehren (commercial employee):  From my point of view, a very trusting relationship, which is always very professional but also always works perfectly on a very friendly basis.

Raphael Janßen (Managing Director 3rd generation): Very positive. Always focussed on new innovations with the aim of continuing to supply the highest quality goods for Floréac’s specialist trade customers.

We are always in dialogue and contact, combined with an annual visit to Floréac and Janßen. Through open evaluation of individual articles and good market analyses, we are constantly expanding the business together. Always with the aim of ensuring that the consumer receives goods of the highest quality and that the entire chain functions and is successful.

The philosophies of Floréac and Janßen are 100% in harmony.

Communication and dialogue have become even more open and goal-oriented in recent years.
